Like raw lumber waiting for a carpenter, this is the raw steel bar waiting for a machinist. It is the economical choice when surface finish is not the priority or will be machined off.
The most cost-effective and common form of steel bar. It serves as the starting material for forging, machining, and cold drawing. While dimensional tolerance is wider, it is easily machinable and weldable.
