SSAW / SAWH Pipe
"Spiral Strength for Large Diameters"
Spiral Submerged Arc Welded. Also known as HSAW (Helical).
"The Spiral Core"
Think of the cardboard core of a paper towel roll. It's wrapped spirally to create a wide, stiff tube from a narrow strip of paper. SSAW applies this geometry to steel to create massive pipes that act as the legs for bridges and piers.
Formed by rolling steel strip in a spiral motion. This allows the production of very large diameter pipes from standard width coils. The spiral weld distributes stress evenly. Mainly used for Piling (Ports/Bridges), Dredging, and Water Transmission.
